Galactus consumes the energy of Superman, who sacrifices himself valiantly. Galactus, sated, becomes SuperGalactus and goes on to atone for his crimes against the universe.
Um, he sells the hammer and ring and gives the money to charity.
Superman. Who has a stronger will then Superman?
Galactus just has to go and kill Supergirl or Krypto and get kick Superman in the nuts while he's recreating that Crisis cover.
Done.
Galactus. Without his iconic cape, Superman loses confidence and can't muster up enough willpower to use the ring.
